The Customize Form feature in AOneSchools lets you modify fields on student forms to better suit your data needs. Please follow the steps as below if you would like to edit your student customize form,

  1. Navigate to the Student module.
  2. Click on the Options button.
  3. Select "Customize Form".
  4. Select which column you wish to edit.
  5. Click the pencil icon on the right side.
  6. Once you have edited the field, you can click Submit.
  7. You can also rearrange the fields by pointing your cursor over the left side of the custom field, drag the field and move it to the preferred position.

Furthermore, here’s what happens when you make specific changes in the student customize fields:

1. Sorting Custom Fields
  • Rearranging the order of fields simply changes the layout without altering or removing any information.

2. Editing Field Labels
  • Updating a field’s label will not impact the data already entered. It just changes the field name displayed on the form.

3. Changing Field from ‘Required’ to ‘Optional’
  • Switching a field to become Optional doesn’t affect existing data. It just allows future entries to leave it blank.

4. Changing Field from ‘Optional’ to ‘Required’
  • If you set an optional field to be Required, any students who previously left it blank will trigger an error message when you access their student info page, asking to complete the required field.

5. Updating Minimum and Maximum Character Length
  • Updating this kind of type will require existing data to meet new character limits. If you set new character length requirements, an error message will appear for any existing students whose entries don’t meet the new limits when you view their info page.

6. Removing Options from Single or Multiple Input Dropdown Fields
  • Removing one or more options from this field type may cause an error or adjust selected options.
  • If a student chose the removed option and there are no other selected options: An error message will show, indicating that the field now needs to be updated.
  • If the student chose the removed option but has other selected options: The removed option will disappear, but no error message will appear.

7. Removing a Field Entirely
  • If you delete a field, any data previously entered in that field for existing students will be permanently removed and cannot be restored.

By understanding how each change affects your data, you can make edit to the Student Customize Form without unexpected issues.
