How to Manage Group Members in a Group Chat on the Web App

In the AOne Schools Web App, the ability to manage group members is controlled by role and permissions settings to ensure secure and responsible communication management. To add new members, you must be a Group Admin. However, your assigned role and permissions also determine whether you can perform this action or not.

Who Can Add Members to a Group

User Role	Requirement	Result
Superadmin	Must be Group Admin	Can add members
Admin	Must be Group Admin and have "Update" permission for In-App Messaging	Can add members
Teacher	Must be Group Admin and have "Update" permission for In-App Messaging	Can add members
Admin/Teacher without "Update" permission	Group Admin but without permission	Cannot add members

How to Add Members to a Group

Once you have the required role and permissions, you may follow the steps below:

Log in to AOne Schools Web App
Click the Message icon in the page header
Open the group message you want to manage
Click the Action button in the chat room
Select View Details
In the Members section, click Add Group Members
To make it easier, you can use the Search bar and Filter options.

What New Members Can See

Newly added members will automatically join the group conversation and will only be able to view messages sent after they were added, and cannot access previous conversations.

Newly added members also will receive a notification inviting them to join the conversation.

The notification will appear as below:

Push Notification on Mobile App for Teachers / Guardians
“Welcome to the Group! You’ve been added to [Group Name] group message.
Join the conversation and stay connected with the latest update”
Group Chat Notification for all group members
“[Admin Name] has added [User 1], [User 2], [User 3] to the group” Or,
“[Admin Name] has added [User 1], [User 2], [User 3] and more to the group”
