The In-App Messaging feature in AOne Schools allows teachers and guardians to communicate through personal and group chats. To keep conversations organized, you can delete personal chats or remove group messages, depending on your permissions. This guide explains how these actions work and what happens after a chat is deleted.
Deleting a Personal Chat
You can delete a personal chat only if your role has “Delete” permission for the In-app Messaging module.
How to Delete a Personal Chat
Go to the In-app Messaging page.
Click the ⋮ (Action menu) on the personal message.
Select Delete Chat.
Confirm the action.
What Happens After Deletion
The chat is removed from your message list only.
The other participant is not affected.
The conversation is soft-deleted for audit and compliance purposes.
Previous chat history becomes inaccessible to you.
If the same participant sends you a new message in the future:
The chat will reappear in your message list.
Previous deleted history will remain inaccessible.
If you try to access the deleted chat through an old notification, you will see:
This message is no longer available. It may have been deleted or you no longer have access to it.
Deleting a Group Message
Deleting a group is more restrictive because it affects all members.
You can delete a group only if:
You are assigned as Group Admin, and
You have Delete permission for the In-app Messaging module.
If either condition is not met, the Delete Group option will not appear.
How to Delete a Group
Open the group chat.
Click the ⋮ (Action menu).
Select Delete Group.
Confirm the action.
What Happens After a Group Is Deleted
Once confirmed:
The group is removed for all members.
No one can access the chat room.
Chat history becomes inaccessible.
The group cannot be searched.
The deletion is logged by the system for audit purposes.
The record is soft-deleted for compliance needs.
All group members will receive a notification:
Group Message Deleted. The [group name] has been deleted by an admin. The group message is no longer available.
If someone attempts to access the deleted group afterward, they will see:
This message is no longer available. It may have been deleted or you no longer have access to it.
Important: Multiple Admin Deletion Attempts
If multiple Group Admins attempt to delete the same group at the same time:
Only the first successful attempt will proceed.
Any later attempts will receive an error.
