How to Delete Personal & Group Chats on the Mobile App

Modified on Tue, 31 Mar at 1:25 PM

Keeping your chat list organized helps you focus on the conversations that matter most. In the AOneSchools mobile app, you can delete personal chats or remove a group if you have the required permissions.

Delete a Personal Chat

If you want to keep your message list clean, you can remove a personal conversation from your chat list. Deleting a chat removes it from your message list. However, if you do not have “Delete” permission, the Delete Chat option will not appear.

How to Delete a Personal Chat

  1. Log in to the AOneSchools mobile app.

  2. Select your role and school.

  3. Tap the Message icon.

  4. Find the personal chat you want to delete.

  5. Tap the Action button next to the chat.

  6. Select Delete Chat.

Confirm the Deletion

A confirmation window will appear.

You can choose:

  • Cancel → The chat will remain in your list.

  • Delete → The chat will be removed.

After deletion, a success notification will appear.

Leave or Delete a Group

From the (⋮) menu, you may see these options:

  • View Details

  • Leave Group

  • Delete Group (Admins with Delete permission only)

Delete a Group

Only Group Admins with Delete permission can delete a group.

How to Delete a Group:

  1. Tap (⋮) in the group chat.

  2. Select Delete Group.

  3. Confirm the action.

What Happens After a Group Is Deleted
  • The group is removed for all members.

  • The chat history cannot be accessed.

  • The group will no longer appear in searches.

  • The system records the deletion for audit purposes.

All members will receive a notification:

Group Message Deleted
The group [group_name] has been deleted by an admin. The group message is no longer available.

If someone tries to open the chat afterward, they will see:

This message is no longer available. It may have been deleted or you no longer have access to it.

If multiple group admins try to delete the group at the same time, only the first attempt will succeed.

Regularly managing your chats and group helps keep communication clear and organized for everyone in the school community.
