How to Assign a Substitute Teacher and What Happens Next?

Modified on Wed, 7 Jan at 11:49 AM

Sometimes, the main teacher is unable to attend a scheduled class, but the lesson still needs to take place and should not be cancelled. In this situation, you can assign a Substitute Teacher to take over the lesson for a specific period.

This feature ensures that classes continue smoothly without changing the lesson schedule.

When Should You Use “Assign Substitute Teacher”?

You can use this option when:

  • The main teacher is absent or unavailable.

  • The lesson schedule remains active and will still be conducted.

  • Another teacher will temporarily handle the lesson.

Steps to Assign a Substitute Teacher

Follow these simple steps to assign a substitute teacher:

  1. Go to the Teacher module.

  2. Click the Options button.

  3. Select Assign Substitute Teacher.

  4. Fill in the required details:

    • Teacher Name: Select the main teacher.

    • Lesson Name: Choose the lesson that needs a substitute.

    • Substitute Teacher: Select the teacher who will replace the main teacher.

    • Start Date and End Date: Set the period for the substitution.

  5. Click the Assign button to complete the process.

What Happens After Assigning a Substitute Teacher?

Once the substitute teacher is assigned:

  • The substitute teacher will see the lesson in:

    • Upcoming Lessons

    • Calendar menu

  • This is visible in both the mobile app and web version.

  • The substitute teacher can mark student attendance for that lesson using the app or web.

Note:

While the substitute teacher can manage attendance, there is one restriction:

  • The substitute teacher cannot create student progress records for lessons where they are only assigned as a substitute. Student progress can only be created by the main teacher.
